We saw turtles, frogs, deer, herons all in an idyllic setting. AND thanks to Henry, our new member, who brought his friend Pedro who is a great golfer, NUTLEY won the longest drive!
Nutley Rotarians and high school students came together on May 16 at 10am to help the Nutley VFW beautify it's outdoor area.

It was our pleasure to support Interact in their Sock and Mask Drive for The Real House! (Since 2004, Real House, Inc. (RHI) has transformed the lives of over 3,000 women and men, through our emergency shelters for women and men, substance abuse treatment program, halfway houses and sober living homes. In July 2017, the nonprofit arm of RHI—Real House Recovery, Inc. (RHR)— was awarded a major grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to provide housing and job placement for upwards of 80 homeless veteran families in Essex County.)
Nutley Rotary found a way to carry out a fun service project in person while staying safe in this covid era.

Nutley Rotary is a strong supporter of Nutley Family Service Bureau, and our member, Eileen Painter, Executive Director.
Rotary is part of the wider community answering the call to help out in these trying times. So proud to be a Rotarian!
Here are Linda's words, after helping out with the bread pickup and delivery today. They are way more eloquent than mine!
Throughout my life in Nutley I have supported the NFSB financially, but couldn’t volunteer because of my work schedule. Now that I am volunteering during this crisis, I see their depth of commitment to those in need & I see first hand how incredibly valuable this organization is to our community. Eileen is an overly remarkable leader, and the volunteers are hard working & dedicated. The businesses, stores, bakery’s & community members donating to the food pantry is highly emotive. There is much I will take away from living through this pandemic, but the greatest thing will be this........”there is so much good in the world....yes, it certainly DOES take a village Eileen, and our little village of Nutley rocks strong! 💕💕💕💪🏻#nutleystrong. 💪🏻
For nineteen consecutive years the Nutley Rotary Club has taken on a literacy project to donate a dictionary to each third grader in the Nutley Public and Parochial schools. Nutley Rotary has made this an annual project so that every third grade student in Nutley, for years to come, will receive a dictionary to call their own from our Rotary Club.

Dante Intindola, President, and John Demmer, Vice President, gave a very interesting and informative presentation both on the plans for the house as well as the history of the site.
We also watched an entertaining video about Rotaract, a Rotary sponsored service club for people of action aged 18-30.
We welcomed Avery Hart and Paul Mantell to our Rotary meeting to talk about their Maasai Girls Fund Project. Avery, a Rotarian and Paul have so far managed to stop cutting young girls and selling them into marriage. They have established an education fund and now the girls are going to school! We are helping with this project and plan to hold a fundraiser soon to help sponsor tuition for one of the girls.

Lori Braun spoke to us today about Gift of Life NJ and Worldwide.
Started in 1973 by a Rotary Club on Long Island, our District became involved in 1985. As part of a World wide organization, GOL, NJ helps support International and several other alliances for cardiac care.
Lori is not a Rotarian, but became involved when a neighbor hosted a child.
Nutley Rotary has been supporting GOL, NJ for many years
We had a beautiful weather for Point Pleasant and a fun group of Japanese students and chaperones for our day at the beach with Rotary's Short Term Youth Exchange.
It's a tradition for the Nutley and Livingston Clubs to "chaperone" this trip, and Nutley is proud to provide beach passes, chairs and umbrellas, lunch and especially ice cream for this special event. The Jersey Shore is a must-see for any overseas visitor!
Nutley Rotary held a ceremony at the Nutley Public Library to dedicate a butterfly garden that was planted there to honor Grace Viola.

Our District Conference in Gettysburg this past May was a great place to meet old friends and new, and learn so much! Great food, lots of learning and time to explore the amazing history of this place.
Looking forward to next year at Baltimore's Inner Harbor!
It takes months, even a year of planning but Nutley Rotary pulled it off again, with the help of club members who rally to get it done.
Jane and JoAnn start working on gifts as soon as the previous Beefsteak ends, and they are the ones who make it all look pretty and inviting by wrapping the gifts professionally.
Thank you to all the donors and helpers who made this event possible.
We had a great experience participating in Hunger 3.6 for the first time! The event ran like a well-oiled machine, very organized! It was a pleasure to see the turnout, young and old and in between, as well do our small part to help alleviate hunger in the world.
Nutley Rotary welcomed Nutley Girl Scout Braden Somers at our February evening meeting at Bosphorus and shared details of her project to clean up the environment by eliminating single use plastic bags. Braden is a green activist, and has started a community survey about her mission. As we learned from the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission, all plastic ends up in the ocean, and we are thankful for Braden's commitment to this cause.
It was an honor to attend this week's presentation by our member Dr. John Dinan at the Nutley Public Library.
Dr. Dinan told the fascinating and moving story of how his brother, USAF pilot and first lieutenant David Dinan, a graduate of MIT, was shot down in Laos and recovered, brought home and buried with honors.
World Polio Day is Wednesday October 24, 2018 and Nutley Rotary is celebrating.
Polio has been ALMOST eradicated from the earth and that is worth commemorating.
Pictured here are Rotarians and friends helping to clear out weeds and brush from the Nutley Community Garden.
Our future World Polio Day events are a cleanup of the Outdoor Classroom on October 27 and a Rotary Social on November 8th to share the latest Rotary news with attendees.
Highlights of the evening were the donation of our "Happy Dollars" to the Nutley Family Service Bureau, the Rotarian of the Year awarded to Dorothy Huey, and the Perfect attendance awards given to several members.
