Dear Members,

Our Service Project Committee has been busy! A full report will be given tonight at our Board Meeting, but I wanted to take this opportunity to thank John Monaco for taking quick action with a request from our veterans. Linda found out from the VFW that their benches were in disrepair and the committee discussed fixing or purchasing new ones for them. John found out that the Parks and Rec had 4 like-new benches that were not needed, and arranged for them to be donated to the VFW, and to have the old ones removed! Thank you John for being in the right place at the right time and taking action!

Our NHS Interact Club has scheduled a Zoom meeting with the Madison Interact Club to learn about the food drive program they've developed to help with food insecurity. They will present their program to our club and we will go from there to see if it is duplicatable in Nutley. Zoom will be on Tuesday January 19 at 1:30pm. I will send the Zoom link out to our club when available.

Statement from Rotary International

At Rotary, we have no tolerance for racism. Promoting respect, celebrating diversity, demanding ethical leadership, and working tirelessly to advance peace are central tenets of our work.

We have more work to do to create more just, open and welcoming communities for all people.

We know there are no easy fixes and that challenging conversations and work lie before all of us. Rotary’s strength has long been our ability and commitment to bringing people together. We will tap into that strength now as we stand with those who are working for peace and justice.

Rotary will do our part to listen, learn and take action to ensure that we continue to contribute to making positive change.
