Essex Health and Wellness Recovery Center (Opioid Task Force) will hold their 3rd Walk down Bloomfield Avenue, Essex County NJ to spread awareness of the danger of opioid use, to remember those who died of overdose and to applaud those who are in recovery.
NJ lost 1,595 people to overdose from Jan – June 2020, 195 of these l95 were from Essex County. In 2019 Essex County lost 428 lives to overdose, our County has the highest rate of overdose death in NJ.

2018 we had 200 walkers, 2019 we had over 400 walkers, this year we hope for 750 walkers!! At each start/stop location there will be resource tables, speakers, refreshments and more. Every walker receives a tshirt, mask and resource manual. No fee to walk. www.essexrecoverycenter.org
Complimentary luncheon follows the Walk 12:30pm – 3pm with speakers, entertainment and awarding the Volunteer of the Year!
We urge all New Jersey residents to attend the Walk and luncheon. We ask all Bloomfield Avenue businesses to donate, decorate their store fronts in purple from Oct 18 – Oct 24 and advertise the Walk.
