Ginos Pizzaria served up a fantastic dinner for our March Dinner Meeting!

The Nutley Rotary presented Paul Cafone and Anthony Santoro with a check for $3300.00 from the 2025 Rotary Car Show proceeds to purchase some specialized fire suppression equipment for electric powered cars and vehicles with lithium batteries.  Paul told the group that fires involving lithium batteries can reignite hours after the fire is put out due to heating of the batteries. The equipment they are buying is used to cool off the batteries without getting them wet, aiding in their efforts to make our community safe from fires of all types.

For our program, Paul and Avery Montell talked about the Maasai girls in Kenya.  These girls generally have their genitals mutilated before puberty, and then around age 12 are married off to older men.  This accounts for a high birth rate. Paul and Avery have had a number of these girls from one village educated away from the village. The cost for education of a grammar school girl is about $400.00 a year, and a high school girl about $600.00 per year. Some of the girls go onto college. When they return to the village they are treated favorably. The birthrate has dropped by 50% .

Thank you to all who attended our meeting, and we look forward to our next big event, the Annual Rotary Beefsteak and Tricky Tray!!
